Frequently Asked Questions


Is there a minimum number of nights that I have to stay to make a reservation?

  • Yes, there is a two night minimum on non-holiday weekdays & weekends.
  • There is a three night minimum on all major holidays.

What time is check-in & check-out?

  • Check-in: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

Can I have a late check-out or early check-in?

  • During summer months, no. We frequently have someone checking in or out the same day as you, and need the time to prepare for the next guest. However, feel free to ask, if we can, we’ll try to accommodate you.

Where do I pick up the keys?

  • Keys will be in a lock box on the property. A unique code will be given to you after full payment is received, along with a map & directions to get to the property.

Can I bring my dog?

  • At properties that allow pets, yes. A pet deposit of $100 is held in addition to the security deposit. As with the security deposit, terms & conditions are to be met, i.e., no pet damage to property or furniture, pet waste is disposed of, no excessive cleaning, etc. to receive a full refund.

What should I bring with me?

  • Personal items: toiletries, clothes, outdoor gear
  • Household items: paper towels, toilet paper, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, soap, trash bags
  • Firewood for properties that have fireplaces or fire pits
  • Briquettes or Propane for BBQ (varies by property)
  • Food including spices, condiments, and ice
  • Entertainment (Games, movies, gaming console with games, toys)
  • Although our properties have full kitchens with stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffee pot, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, we recommend that if you require a specific item bring it with you. The closest shopping is an hour away. Pierpoint Springs Resort & The Camp Nelson General Store have convenience store-type stock, but don’t rely on them to have specialty items.
  • During winter months, preparedness is key - tire chains are always recommended, and don’t forget a shovel, blanket, emergency supplies, gloves, hats, jackets & boots.

What is there to do?

  • Hiking, mountain biking, horse back riding, visiting sequoia groves, fishing, snow play, snowmobiling, showshoeing, cross country skiing, star gazing, bird watching, or just relax!

Will I be close to a Sequoia grove?

  • Yes! The Belnap campground is part of the Wheeler grove is easily accessible by car or a short walk from many rental property locations. A couple of our rentals even have young sequoias onsite.
  • Camp Nelson trail is a popular hike to see some giant sequoia trees, especially the Wishbone tree, that you can hike, bike or ride a horse through.

Are you part of the Sequoia National Park?

  • No. The Giant Sequoia National Monument is south of the park, and is also part of the Sequoia National Forest.
  • We are located off of highway 190, east of Porterville and Springville, and the Park is located off highway 198, east of Visalia and Three Rivers.

Is there cell service on the mountain?

  • Sorry, no. There are a few select turn outs on the road that have mixed success for signal. You’re pretty much out of luck east of Springville.

Can I at least find Wi-Fi?

  • Yes. Pierpoint Springs Resort offers Wi-Fi to their café customers. Hours vary, call 559-542-2423

Can I make long distance phone calls?

  • Bring a calling card in the instance you might want to make a call as most properties do not offer long distance service.

How does the Security Deposit work?

  • At time of reservation, a security deposit is collected, and held until after check out. If the property is left as it was found, and all check out procedures followed, terms & conditions met, then you will receive a full refund.

How much is the cleaning fee & what does it include?

  • The fee varies by property, inquire at time of reservation. The fee includes fresh linens & beds made, also two bags of trash, and cleaning after your departure. We expect that you leave the property as you found it (including cleaning & putting away dishes, trash collection, returning any item used to the location found (movies, games, toys, books, etc.) and taking any food you brought with you) you don’t need to vacuum, mop, dust, clean toilets, etc. This is not a daily cleaning service - it is only upon check out, fees may vary by length of stay and group size.
